SAM.gov Get Opportunities Public API
The initial opportunity source is the General Services Administration’s SAM.gov Get Opportunities Public API. It requires an API key, posted-date parameters, and pagination. The API provides the latest active version, so GovBidStream stores observed snapshots for change detection.
USAspending API
Version 2 USAspending endpoints support historical award and recipient context. A possible match is not shown as fact until identifiers and source fields support it. Amounts are never invented.
Future state and local sources
Connectors are added only for official APIs, RSS feeds, or licensed exports after terms, robots instructions, data rights, rate limits, and operational reliability are reviewed. A portal is not scraped merely because it is technically possible.
Corrections
Report a suspected normalization or source-link problem through the corrections process. The official source remains authoritative.
